At Frontline, we use AI responsibly with attention to energy efficiency and environmental impact. Our work centers on adapting existing models through small model fine-tuning and inference, primarily with third-party providers. We do not train large foundation models, which are a primary driver of AI energy use.  We recognize that inference at scale also has an environmental footprint, and we architect each of our AI solutions to utilize the simplest model for each use case, with plans for reevaluation as newer, cheaper, models are released.

We also see AI as a practical tool for sustainability in our company and in K-12 education. Used well, AI can streamline operations, reduce paperwork, and help schools use resources more effectively.

We will continue to monitor our usage and evolve our practices so that our adoption of AI supports education while managing environmental impact.
