General

How does the new Plan Management solution differ from eSped and SuccessEd?

Plan Management isn’t simply a new version of eSped or SuccessEd. It’s a next-generation solution that combines the best of both platforms, shaped by direct input from Texas district leaders. It offers a more modern, comprehensive experience with benefits including:

  • Streamlined workflows to support stronger process compliance
  • Built-in data validation and structured data controls for cleaner, more accurate state reporting
  • Seamless integration with Frontline’s Medicaid & Service Management system
  • Robust reporting and analytics for proactive compliance and smarter decisions
  • Enhanced user experience with features like Auto Save and Snippets for faster data entry
  • A modern interface and scalable technology to support ongoing innovation

This new platform reflects our continued investment in Texas school districts and our commitment to driving even more value moving forward.

How can my district get started with Plan Management or join a future migration cohort?

We’re actively working with districts to schedule their move to the Frontline Plan Management solution. To ensure a smooth and supported transition, we limit the number of districts in each migration cohort. If your district is interested in moving to Plan Management, reach out to your Client Success Manager to learn more, explore next steps, and discuss available migration spots.

What will happen to my current SPM system during and after migration?

We’re committed to supporting your existing SPM solution and have no near-term plans to sunset any products. Our goal is to build on the best of eSped and SuccessEd by collaborating with Texas school district leaders to deliver even more value through Plan Management. As part of the transition, you’ll retain read-only access to your current system for the first year, allowing users to reference familiar data and pull reports while making updates in the new platform. Upgrades are designed to be seamless, with support provided every step of the way.

What will happen to our data? Will everything migrate over, or will we have to start over?

Your historical and in-progress data will migrate into the new system to ensure a smooth transition. Key documents and records – including active plans, recent drafts, and relevant history – will be brought over either as structured data or attachments, depending on the format and age of the records.

Our goal is to bring over as much relevant information as possible, so your team does not have to “start over.” While some data cleanup may be necessary due to differences between systems, we’re designing the migration process to minimize disruption and preserve continuity across student records and plans.

Will it work with my SIS, TestHound, and Medicaid?

Yes, Frontline is committed to supporting integrations with key vendors already connected to our flagship systems. This includes, but is not limited to Ascender (TxEIS), Frontline SIS (TEAMS), Skyward Q, Skyward SMS, and eSchoolPlus.

We’re focused on creating consistent, scalable, and sustainable integration points, specifically for critical needs like syncing state reporting data back to your SIS (e.g., Skyward and PowerSchool-eSchool).

In addition, Frontline has a robust integration with TestHound. Their integration specifically for managing state testing accommodations has been live and successfully used alongside our Special Programs Management solutions for several years.

Who is on the Frontline Plan Management solution?

Our first district went live on the new Frontline SPM solution, Plan Management, in the Spring of 2022. Our early partners have been instrumental in testing and providing feedback on the solution. We feel confident the product has been well vetted over the past three years and is ready for any district ready to migrate. Will there be any additional cost to my district for Plan Management?

If your district is currently using Frontline SPM (eStar or SuccessEd), your pricing will stay exactly the same. There is no additional charge to migrate to Frontline Plan Management, including data migration and training. We’re offering this upgrade at no extra cost because we believe strongly in the value it brings to Texas districts.

How hard will this be to learn and when/how will we get trained?

Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for you to take advantage of the upgrades and improvements that come with Plan Management. In fact, in many areas, the design of the solution is aimed at making it easier to learn than your existing solution. In addition, because it’s built on the features that users like best in the existing solutions, it may seem very familiar. There will be structured training using a Train-The-Trainer model, along with virtual eLearning modules and on-demand opportunities for self-guided education.

What if I have feedback for the new solution?

Just like with eStar and SuccessEd, we value client input as a key part of shaping our solutions. Your feedback helps ensure that Plan Management meets both your current and future needs, and that it truly delivers added value for your district. We welcome the opportunity to hear from you! If you’re interested in learning more, please reach out to your CSM.

Reporting

Will all my existing reports be available in the new system? What new reports will be available?

The Plan Management solution includes extensive reporting and data analytics tools. You can preview some of those reports in our new Frontline SPM demo

Implementation

What is the migration timeline?

We are hosting our Cohort Crosswalk series designed to prepare administrators for the transition to Frontline Plan Management. This series focuses on differences between your current system and the new solution, including business workflow impacts. It runs across multiple weeks and includes:

  • A weekly one-hour webinar comparing system functionality.
  • A 30-minute live Q&A session each week

These sessions help districts assess readiness and build a foundation for a successful transition.

What does the implementation process involve and how long does it take?

The implementation process spans approximately 12 weeks following the completion of the Cohort Crosswalk series. Each migration is guided by a dedicated implementation consultant and includes the following phases:

  • Kickoff (Week 1): Introductory call and preparation
  • Data Review (Weeks 2-6): Includes data integrity discussions and assigned “data homework” to ensure a clean and complete migration
  • Sandbox Access (Starting Week 2): Early access to preview the system
  • eLearning Access (Starting Week 2): On-demand training resources
  • Configuration (Week 6): Tailoring the system to district needs
  • Data Migration (Week 7): Actual data transfer
  • Training (Weeks 8-11): User-specific training sessions
  • Go-Live & Post-Go-Live Support (Weeks 11-13): Full access and support for system launch

Training & Learning Opportunities

What does training look like?

Training for the migration to Frontline Plan Management is designed to ensure district staff are confident and well-prepared to use the system effectively. The training included follows a train-the-trainer model within a cohort-based structure, where district-designated trainers learn directly from Frontline experts and then lead training for their own users.

Included Training Components

  • Virtual eLearning Modules: Self-paced, web-based courses introduce key features and functions of the system, navigation, key workflows, and system management tools. This course is ideal for building a foundational understanding.
  • Virtual Instructor-led Cohort Sessions: Trainers from multiple districts participate in live, virtual training that covers administrative tools and key workflows (such as IEP, 504, and RTI/MTSS). These sessions are interactive, allowing trainers to ask questions and engage with expert facilitators.
  • Train-back Practice: Opportunities for district trainers to rehearse and reinforce what they’ve learned, designed to boost readiness for facilitating in-district, end-user trainings.
  • Trainer Assignment Guidelines: Our recommendation is 1 Trainer per content area and 100 users. For example, that would mean 3 trainers for IEP (three content areas: IEP, Evaluations, Goals and Progress), 1 for 504, 1 for RTI for the first 100 users. For every additional 100 users, we recommend an additional set of trainers.

While the structure and core topics are standardized to ensure a high-quality learning experience, limited customization is available. Districts can work with their implementation consultant to adjust pacing, emphasis, or scheduling to better align with local needs.

What additional training & learning opportunities are available for purchase?

For districts looking to expand their professional learning beyond the standard implementation process, Frontline offers a suite of optional, purchasable training sessions. These sessions are ideal for deepening expertise, onboarding new staff, or targeting specific functional areas. While the topics below are covered in the standard training in cohort style, districts who desire a 1:1 style district training may purchase additional sessions.

Yes. After your district goes live, support continues through our Client Success Cohort Model, which connects districts that have launched around the same time. Your Client Success Manager will guide your team through the next phase of learning, based on your district’s goals and staff needs.
